SAMI is proud to partner with The Mountaineers, a community organization dedicated to outdoor education and adventure. Through this collaboration, SAMI students gain hands-on experience in climbing, backpacking, and wilderness skills, supported by expert instruction and access to The Mountaineers’ gear library. Together, we create opportunities for students to explore the natural world, build resilience, and strengthen teamwork in ways that extend learning beyond the classroom.

SAMI partners with Edgeworks Climbing + Fitness to provide students with access to Tacoma’s premier indoor climbing facility. Through this collaboration, SAMI students engage in climbing instruction, fitness, and team-building activities led by experienced guides. Edgeworks’ focus on integrity, community, and effort aligns with SAMI’s mission to extend learning beyond the classroom, giving students opportunities to challenge themselves, build resilience, and discover the value of perseverance in a supportive environment.

SAMI partners with Campfire Coffee, a Tacoma-based, Black- and veteran-owned business that blends outdoor culture with community. Through this collaboration, students connect with Campfire Coffee’s mission to increase access to both outdoor recreation and the specialty coffee industry for underrepresented groups. Their signature wood-fired roasting and commitment to diversity inspire SAMI students to see how entrepreneurship, resilience, and a love of the outdoors can come together to strengthen community ties and expand opportunities beyond the classroom
